Mark the date: Clinical trial reporting workshop for European universities

Clinical Trial Unit and Research Governance staff from universities around Europe are being offered the opportunity to strengthen their clinical trial reporting policies and performance via a workshop convened by the QUEST Center at the Berlin Institute of Health.

The hands-on workshop on how to overcome practical challenges with limited resources will be held in Berlin on 26 September 2019.

Three highly experienced trial registry managers from UK universities that are front-runners in clinical trial transparency will share their experiences and expertise.

Small group work will facilitate peer learning and best practice exchanges among participants.

Achieving excellence in clinical trial reporting has recently become a priority at many European institutions:

  • Penalties for failing to post clinical trial summary results onto registries are likely to come into force in many European countries 2020+

  • Public data and regular performance rankings are driving growing media attention on the issue (for recent examples see Nature, BMJ News and STAT)

  • Growing expectations for best practice registration and reporting from research funders, patients, and advocacy groups

While such expectations are evolving rapidly, putting into place appropriate policies, systems and processes that improve performance takes time, so the process needs to start now.

The workshop is primarily directed at staff from German institutions, but participants from universities and non-profit institutions in other European countries are also welcome to attend.

QUEST will cover the participation fee of the workshop. Places are limited, so please register your interest in attending now. Preference will be given to applicants from institutions sponsoring a large number of trials.
